For architects who persevere on difficult sites

We specialise in sites others walk away from. Let’s face it, most of the easiest projects—the ones that fit the textbook— have been done. To change a city, we to move forward from the status quo.

We work with teams that need to solve not settle

Getting a new idea approved and implemented isn’t easy. It requires a collaborative approach and a team that has the nerve for some uncertainty. But the upsides can be worth it.

Civil and Roads

Earthworks, grading and trunk drainage for DAs and construction certificates. Geometric road and intersection design, driveways, ramps, swept paths and pavements.

Stormwater and Flooding icon

Stormwater and Flooding

Detention, retention and water quality design that maximises yield and gets approval first time. Flood impact assessments, overland flow analysis and flood planning level certification to unlock floor space.

Water and Sewer

Potable water reticulation, pressure analysis and connection sizing. Gravity and pumped sewer design, on site sewage treatment, capacity assessment for residential, commercial and mixed-use developments.

How it works

1

How could we make this work?

Ask the question of possibility. Review project goals, background information, big risks and look for opportunities or upsides.

2

The idea with the best fit

Develop three or more scope options across a range of upsides and approval opportunities. The ideas with the biggest upsides are often not even the most technically adventurous.

3

Enrolment of council engineers

Develop a top level plan and technical information to demonstrate ideas and feasibility. Engage council development engineers with a developed idea rather than a simple verbal one.

4

Get the application in

Prepare a fully developed solution suitable for approval. Continue engagement with council engineers to get to a DA approval.

5

Stewardship and negotiation

Council bureacracies are slow. The squeaky wheel gets the oil. Program a series of follow ups, building on the trust and rapport developed.

6

Project approved

Review any draft conditions to ensure there are no hidden dealbreakers. Move forward to tender and construction.
